Mich Board of State Canvassers ignores their own eyes, votes that Emergency Mgr law petitions are NOT valid

Despite a printing professional’s sworn testimony, Republican canvassing board members still have no idea that Calibri comes in a 12-point font. So democracy gets fucked again because none of them have ever used Microsoft Word apparently. Surely it’s not because they’re trying to protect their anti-worker agenda.

Nice going, Michigan Republicans. Aces. I’m sure this will all work out great for your party - the party of bullshit obstructionism.

Live in one of these five states? They are the worst on voting rights.

These are all states with Republican governors and Republican majorities in their state houses. What a shock.

Watch the clip.

The Roberts Court is on its way to fundamentally rewriting what it means to be American, and that’s pretty terrifying, since they’re unelected and wholly unaccountable to the people of this country for the duration of their lifetime appointment.

"Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people… . No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare."

We’re about to find out how influential the Insurance lobby is in this country.

Well, you advocates of individual rights, your day in (Supreme) Court has come. Time to see if the health insurance mandate will survive. Still, “Obamacare” - or as I like to think of it, “The Reason Your Unemployed College Graduate Kid Has Health Insurance” - will live on, even if the mandate is struck down.

But providing insurance to people with pre-existing conditions is expensive, y’all. The only way insurance companies can do it and still stay profitable is with - wait for it - an individual mandate to purchase health insurance. Oh laws no! If they can’t get the SCOTUS to play ball, the alternative, of course, is to eliminate that coverage too. We all know how much trouble it is to take things away from folks after you’ve signed it into law, however. To the party that knuckles under and eliminates the pre-existing conditions coverage, I wish you lots of luck.

There is another option, however unpalatable to the Hayekians among us, and that is what the Dems wanted in the first place: universal single payer health coverage. You mean just like every Congressman and Senator gets, Uncle Jesse? The very same, my child. That will satisfy neither the Tea Partiers nor the insurance companies. But guess which ones have more influence in politics?

We will soon find out…

Politicalprof: Good Cops, Bad Cops

politicalprof:

So I used to do research with cops. I’ve spent about 100-120 nights of my life riding around in police cars in two different communities: Huntsville, AL, and Spokane County, WA. I’ve been to riots. I’ve been to fights. I’ve watched beer bottles arc through the night sky as they were thrown at my…
